DANNY IS A DOUBT
 |
| KNEE INJURY: Danny Hollands |
CHERRIES boss Kevin Bond is sweating on the fitness of key midfielder Danny Hollands ahead of the start of the new season.
Hollands has been feeling some discomfort in his left knee and has been ruled out of Cherries' pre-season programme for the past week.
The newly-crowned supporters' player of the year saw a specialist yesterday and was refereed for a scan, which he will undergo during the early part of next week.
Hollands, 22, has sat out Cherries' opening two friendlies and looked on from the sidelines as Bond's men beat Poole Town last night.
Boss Bond told the Daily Echo: "We are going to get him scanned as soon as we can and I can't say too much until after that.
"He's got aswollen knee so something is going on otherwise that wouldn't be happening. Let's just hope it's nothing serious."
Hollands was joined in the dugout at Tatnam by Ryan Garry, Shaun Cooper, Marvin Bartley and Joe Partington, who all missed the 3-0 win.
Garry has a minor knee ligament sprain and Partington a hip problem, with both unlikely to feature against Portsmouth on Monday.
However, Bartley and Cooper should both be fit to face Pompey after recovering from their respective injuries.
Striker Jo Kuffour is expected to resume training shortly after successfully undergoing surgery to cure a hernia in Germany yesterday.
Kuffour went under the knife of specialist Dr Ulrike Muschaweck, who also operated on Hollands last term.
Bond added: "If Jo can recover as quickly as Danny did, he might be back in training as early as next week."
Meanwhile, Bond again ran the rule over former Fulham goalkeeper Corrin Brooks-Meade against the Dolphins.
Bond has made the addition of another goalkeeper a priority ahead of the new season, with Southampton's Michael Poke also a possibility.
He said: "I'm looking for a goalkeeper but if I'm going to bring one in, I want him to be good. I'm having a look at Corrin at the moment and we've got Ryan Pryce as well. But we know we need another one and I'm actively trying.
"I've had a few mentioned to me and would like to bring someone in who will make a difference.
"Michael Poke has been mentioned to me and he's a decent goalkeeper. I don't know what the situation is with Southampton but they are probably keeping their younger players around them at this moment in time.
"That may change between now and the start of season but it could be a couple of weeks before clubs start to let players out on loan."

Kevin, don't risk anybody in what seems to be too many warm up games. Let's not start the season like last year with half the team out!

good point, we have to win our first 3 games to get us on a run from the start of the season, if we fail to beat gills we're not going to pack up and go home but realistically anything less than 3 points first game of the season will not be good enough, we need to be free of injuries at the start of the season, 3 weeks and counting.

whilst appreciating the dificult situation with regard to players, especially with a wage cap in league 2, it is obvious that we cannot start the season in this chaotic fashion, we are going to pin our hopes on being able to get a number of loan players in and hope their clubs will pay at least part of their wages, this proved a disastrous move last year and must not be allowed to happen again this year, there must be out of contract players out there who could do a goodjob for us and will want to play for us, so please Kevin I appreciate the position you are in but if you make the same mistakes as last year you will have no excuses

My God why all the negativity already? just 24hrs ago I was being called all sorts for doubting the new owners and being told it's time to be optimistic and here we are a day later and it's all doom and gloom over the players, for all our sakes it's week 1 of the pre season what do you want? Bond has to play the better players in these games otherwise they will not be match fit for the start of the season, and I hardly see a couple of niggles as an injury crisis and who is the injury prone over the hill crock exactly? Let's get some perspective here people, the season starts on August 9th not July 19th, and we need the games for the players to be ready. I really cannot fathom how yesterday it was all give them a chance it all looks great and now it's we are stuffed at this rate, talk about fickle.

Michael Poke won't be signing as he has just signed for Torquay on a seasons loan from Saints.

Lucky we didn't only win 2 - 0, otherwise you permanent moaners would be having a field day.

I am looking forward to Monday night, can't wait to see the team play back at Dean Court especially when at times we didn't think it would ever happen again, let's forget all the off pitch nonsense and enjoy the night I can see us picking up a win, and why not, so come on you grumps we have football to look forward to at long last.

I have had not personality transplant at all I still think exactly the same way about Mostyn and his new buddies thank you.

You may remember it was negative at one point to even suggest that anyone else rather than Good Old Jeff would buy the Club . No I think realistic caution is a more appropriate term

Garry has a minor knee ligament sprain..there is no such thing. Any knee ligament sprain is a worry.Painful, and difficult to predict recovery time.Get fit soon Ryan and Danny.
We still need a keeper, centre half and big strong centre forward as an absolute minimum before the season starts.

What if Mostyn had got total control and ruined the Club would questioning him been seen as anti Bournemouth when the Club was no more. The bit I dont understand is I was much more anti Mostyn than you to the point of you and I falling out over it Yet they are saying you are negative . Its not negative to want the Club to survive and get it out of the clutches of the biggest threat against its survival for many Years. Your not in my opionion allways right but to suggest you are negative about the Club in general is appaling which is why I stuck my nose in.
